Bob, thank you for your thoughts. I see that you are interested in international politics, so I hope yo don't mind me presenting a different perspective based upon working in the Middle East for most of the last 5 years and not so much on what the media presents.
With the exception of Jordon, I have to say that every "Moslem" government maintains credibility by professing to the masses that they are anti Israel and therefore (even though corrupt, torturing, theives) they are also on the side of "Allah". This deflects critisism of their excesses. Remember the millions of dollars that Arafat stole from "his people"? Not much known about it here in the ME.
The injustice done to a small portion of the "Arab" population has become the total focal point of the Islamic world. Of the whole world, only the Western countries have given Palestinians citizenship. Jordan treats them best of all the Arab countries, but even there, they are not equal citizens.
It would take a long time to revisit the Jew/Moslem fight and the injustice done to the Palastinians, but don't lose site of the fact that the Palastinians have been done wrong by their own brothers and left to be miserable by people that are only deflecting attention from their own corruption and that is worse than any evil done them by the Jews.
It is hard to not be twisted by the media on the problems in the ME, but it really comes down to this... many millions of good people are opressed by horrid governments and if we don't try to help those millions, then we will allways be at war.
